Patients’ Rights
EU patients’ rights Directive
The possibility to get medical treatment in another member state of the European Union against reimbursement of medical costs already existed in 2004. To guarantee the rights of patients in cross-border care, the European Parliament finally adopted the EU patients’ rights Directive in 2011. EU-member states are required to implement this Directive before October 25 2013.
